Updated: Nov 8, 2020

About the book

This book is about a fighter, John Perry who had retired from his fighting days and is now a village ombudsman for a human colony on distant Huckleberry. He then solves local dispute, farms several acres of land and watches his adopted daughter grow up together with his wife, Jane Sagan, former Special Forces warrior.

That is, until his and Jane's past reaches out to bring them back into the game as leaders of a new human colony, to be peopled by settlers from all the major human worlds, for a deep political purpose that will put Perry and Sagan back in the thick of interstellar politics, betrayal, and war.

What I love about it

  1. The writing is pleasant and also generic.

  2. The writing is clean, clear, and fluid. characterization that is simple, straightforward, and real.

  3. A nice mix of philosophical and humorous observations.

Quotes to remember

  1. “The problem with aging is not that it's one damn thing after another—it's every damn thing, all at once, all the time.”

  2. “When you're a teenager and you're in love, it's obvious to everyone but you and the person you're in love with.”

  3. “I despise you and I love you, you who are my damnation and salvation both.”

How I can apply it’s content to my life.
