GIZ: Technical Advisor Wanted - Managing & Promoting Solar Pumping & Irrigation Systems in Ghana

Job Description

Technical Advisor is responsible for managing and promoting the implementation of Solar Pumping and Irrigation Systems in Ghana.

The ‘Green People’s Energy’ project is implemented by GIZ on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). It strives at fostering the use of renewable energy technologies in rural areas of Ghana. The project promotes investments in decentralized energy systems focusing on productive use in the agricultural sector. It is steered by the Ministry of Energy, other public partners and private sector companies for the benefit of rural communities in Ghana.

The project started on 10/2019 and will continue until 09/2022 with a possibility of a one-year extension.



Your Tasks

Coordinate and assist in preparing and conducting of project activities required for the implementing of Solar Pumping and Irrigation Systems (SPIS) by solar companies; Assists national and international consultants in carrying out their work in the above-mentioned activity; Helps identify the needs of government institutions and NGOs; Assists the team leader in planning, quality management, result evaluation and monitoring, communication and documentation of the output results and impacts; Maintain a good flow of communication and information between all involved institutions and counterparts and GIZ. Perform other duties and tasks at the request of management.


Qualifications

  • Master’s Degree (MSc) in a subject relevant to the project objectives, e.g. engineering, renewable energy, agriculture;

  • At least 3 years’ professional experience in a comparable position;

  • Experience in planning, design, installation, maintenance and commissioning of solar pumping and irrigation systems is a great asset;

  • Experience in working in an international cooperation environment would be an asset; Good working knowledge of ITC technologies (related software, phone, fax, email, the internet) and computer applications (e.g. MS Office);

  • Strong managerial and organizational competence; Willingness to travel within Ghana regularly;

  • Very good knowledge of the European language widely used in the country;

  • Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management.
