Updated: Nov 7, 2020

About the book

This book is a foundational work of Western literature and is widely considered to be Friedrich Nietzsche’s masterpiece. It contains the German philosopher’s famous discussion of the phrase ‘God is dead’ as well as his concept of the Superman. Nietzsche delineates his Will to Power theory and devotes pages to critiquing Christian thinking, in particular Christianity’s definition of good and evil.

What I love about it

Many things such as; moral relativism, comparative theology etc are explored, celebrated or indicted with ambitious and sharp leaps of metaphors.

Quotes to remember

I am a forest, and a night of dark trees: but he who is not afraid of my darkness, will find banks full of roses under my cypresses.”

“you must be ready to burn yourself in your own flame;

how could you rise anew if you have not first become ashes?”
